Juan Williams wall street journal

Yesterday, while helping to cover the opening ceremony of Fox News, Juan Williams eyes filled with tears and his voice cracked with emotion, spoke of the importance of this moment in history. And I’m sure many viewers, like me, feel the excitement with him. If we agree with the President now Obama’s views and policies, the United States elected its first black president. Obama did not race too much in his speech, but little has been said enough. Sixty years ago, his father can not be served in a nearby restaurant, he said, is sworn in today as president.

On the Wall Street Journal, Williams wrote about how we should judge Obama. “If the president is to represent the power of the idea that African Americans are like everyone else … Barack Obama became the subject of the same rough and drop experienced by political criticism of his predecessors.” Williams warns against the danger of assuming that any criticism of Obama is racist. “It’s condescending. Worse, implies a presumption of inferiority. Every president should be held to the highest level.”
