Chesley b. Sully Sullenberger
A former fighter pilot has been hailed as a hero of last night, after having guided his crippled aircraft to a safe landing in the Hudson River in New York, saving the lives of all 155 people aboard.
The pilot of flight 1549 U.S. Airways, giving passengers the cold command to brace for impact was Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger III, a veteran of 29 years of the airline.
Captain Sullenberger, 58, served as the U.S. Air Force fighter pilot from 1973 to 1980 and also served as an instructor and security for the president of Air Line Pilots’ Association.
