portuguese water dog
More than two months after President-elect Barack Obama had promised his daughters that they could have a dog and even delivered the promise at the White House, his choice has been reduced to two breeds – none of which is likely to be found in a pound.
Obama said Sunday that the dog would be a Labradoodle or a Portuguese water dog, which are not common dogs, both breeds are important for the family because their 10-year-old daughter, Malia, has an allergy.
However, farmers and traders say the Mongrels are expensive and not often found in a pound – very often. Although the Obama’s dog will almost certainly be the Labradoodle, a cross between a Poodle and a Labrador retriever. And even that will be very difficult to find.
