Henderson, considered the greatest leadoff hitter in the history of baseball and all-time steals leader,
Cooperstown will be joined by Jim Rice, who was in his final year of eligibility. Rice (76.4 percent), which fell 16 votes short in 2008, opened the threshold of 75 percent required for election to the HOF victory by 412 votes, seven more than the 405 (539) required.
He is the 44th Dodgers player to be selected for the Hall of Fame and the first since Gary Carter and Eddie Murray was in 2003. In addition, seven managers / coaches have selected four executives, including Walter O’Malley last year, and four broadcasters.
